Here is how you get saved
I am writing this page out of concern for you. I am not part of a cult or an organized religion , in fact I would not consider myself religious at all. I used to go to Sunday school and hated it, but later on in my life I discovered the real truth that was covered up by the meaninglessness of religion – its traditions and rituals. Please read on and let me explain what I found.
First, man is a sinner. That means he is rebellious against God. He is born with an inherent sinful nature. We do not become sinners by committing sin but we commit sin because we are sinners. Because we have this sinful nature we are separated from God at birth because God is holy and cannot fellowship with sinners. This is why I never recognized God in Sunday school, because I was covered in sin, and they never told me about this fundamental truth. The Bible says: “there is no one who does good. The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men, to see if there is any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt, there is no one who does good, not even one.” (Psalm 53:1-3) and not only are you separated from God now, but you will also be eternally separated from God paying for your sins in hell. Because God is righteous, he cannot let sin go unpaid for. So God has set apart a day of judgment in which we shall all be judged according to our deeds. The Bible describes hell as a place of darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. It is a lake of fire, a world of eternal torment for those who died still in the state of rebellion against God. Now since we are born rebellious, we are all headed for hell from the day we are born. But there is good news, God in his love for you has made a way of escape so that you won’t have to pay the penalty for your sins.
God, Himself, came down to earth as a man (Jesus Christ). Jesus was born of a virgin so that there was no inherent sinful nature, and he lived a completely sinless life. Jesus was rejected by the people and the religious leaders of his time. “He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own (the Jews), and those who were His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” -John 1:10-12. He was tried unjustly and sentenced to death by crucifixion. God allowed His only Son (Jesus Christ) to be humiliated, beaten to shreds, and killed by men because of His love for you. But because He died, you can live eternally with Him in heaven. Because of what Jesus did, God now has the power to forgive your sins if you ask Him – believing that Jesus paid the price for you. You see Jesus, by being both man and God at the same time, was able to bridge the gap between sinful man and a holy God. So now we can have a personal relationship with God by having faith in Him and in what He says through His word – the Bible.
Now this relationship does not depend on anything you do for God, such as special prayers or good deeds. “For by grace (God’s provision – His only Son) you have been saved through faith; and salvation is not of yourselves, but it is a gift of God; and not as the result of works, so that no one should boast.” Don’t think that you can save yourself by being good, or by going to church, or by saying some mystical religious phrase.
But there is something that you must do: You must recognize that you are a sinner and you must have a desire to turn (repent) from your sin. You then must believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and you must accept the free gift, the provision, that God has given to you. It is your faith (belief) in Jesus Christ (your faith in His sacrifice on the cross for you) that will save you and give you eternal life with God in heaven when you die.
If you put your faith in Jesus and give your life to him, God will forgive you of your sins and you’ll become a new person. The joys of knowing God are greater than anything else. Life will begin again for you and all things will become new. As the Bible says, you will be “born again”. Believe me, Jesus has got the answers that you’re searching for. He proved it to me and he can do the same for you. Jesus said, “for God so loved the world that He gave it His only begotten Son (Jesus), That whosoever believes (trusts and continues to trust) in Him should not perish (in hell) but have eternal life (in heaven).” – John 3:16. There is no other way to get to heaven and spend your eternity with God. Jesus said; “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” – John 14:6.
God is calling you right now to come to Him and except His offer of salvation. You can pray this prayer or makeup your own. It is time to begin your relationship with God, your heavenly Father. Pray to Him now:
“Lord God, I pray that according to Your love and mercy that You would forgive me of my sins, save my soul, and take away my sinful nature. I believe that Your Son Jesus died for me and paid the price for my sins. I ask that you would come into my life; become my Lord and Savior, and make all things new. And with your guidance and strength and help, I promise that I will turn from my sins and live my new life for You. I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.”
If you prayed seriously, your sins have been forgiven and you are no longer separated from God, but you just became His child. God loves you and He has a whole lot more to tell you about. Here is how grow and learn:
1) Talk to God in prayer every day. He wants to be with you. He wants to help you.
2) Get a Bible and read it every day. This is God’s Word to mankind and it is most precious. (I would recommend either the 1977 or 1995 New American Standard Version NASV or the English Standard Version ESV or The New King James Version NKJV – please be very wary of modern dumbed down translations which alter the intended meaning of God’s word).
3) Avoid theologies and religious teachers that distort this clear message, and religious books about the Bible. (Read these other books in the future, for now, stick with the Bible itself). God will speak to you and help you understand His word if you ask Him. (Begin in the gospel of John and the other three Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke). Immerse yourself in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ first.
4) Confess your belief in Jesus to someone. Being baptized publicly into Christ is a method of confessing your faith. Find a church where this message is proclaimed and become friends with other believers so that you can learn about God and His Son Jesus Christ along with them.
